Animating Chanel: Peter Philips

January 25, 2011

Watch this amazing video !!!

Peter Philips Brings His Beauty Kit to Life for the Brand’s Cheeky Short

A jet-propelled robot, a beaming sun god and an impish spider are not the likeliest of characters to embody the ultra-luxurious world of Chanel, but Peter Philips, the innovative mind behind them, has made his name pursuing the unexpected. Chanel’s Global Creative Director of Makeup took a break from conceptualizing cosmetic gold to don the animator’s cap for today’s short, a work inspired by a series of headdresses he crafted from beauty product packaging for a Vogue Paris shoot. Built from a trove of compacts, glosses, brushes and more, Philips’s characters embark on a journey that begins with a lipstick-powered automaton blasting through the clouds and ends on more familiar ground, with a model whose chic ensemble channels Mme Chanel herself. Philips came to the task with the requisite technical skills, having studied graphic design before attending Antwerp’s Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts. But he did concede on one creative point—the music. “If it were up to me it would have been disco,” he confesses.

The Dry Shampoo Report

January 24, 2011

Ojon, Rene Furterer , Pssst! the list goes on and on. When it comes to Dry Shampoo this is a necessity to my daily beauty regime. I was born with Naturally straight weightless hair. Nothing stays and nothing ever holds. However, as a brunette, powdered shampoo isn’t quite as low-maintenance as you may assume. As much of a perfectionist that I am, sometimes I’m in a hurry and miss some powder flecks that i did not comb in thoroughly, leaving really unsightly powder residue.

So, what is dry shampoo exactly?

Let me clarify, dry shampoo is a powder that absorbs oil in your hair leaving it fresh and clean in between shampoos. Not only does it gets rid of the grease, it adds volume and makes your hair clean and fresh without the use of water.

Why should I use it?

Well there are several reasons to use it. My hair is so fine that after i wash my hair i apply dry shampoo and style my hair normally. It helps keep my hair from absorbing anything that will make it greasy. Dry Shampoo is a must-have product when traveling and a fine solution for “greasy” second day hair. It’s the best quick fix that can still make your hair look great and smell heavenly.

Check out my recommendations! It should work for any hair type. male or female!

Spring 2011 trends

January 22, 2011

Spring 2011 trends that I love !

Below are a few of my Favorite spring 2011 trends. Spring is always a great time to feel feminine and to pull out all your lighter fabrics. I will soon be following up with  spring 2011 shoes, hair and beauty! Stay tuned in.

Color blocking, purple , green and blue! This spring ladies don’t be afraid to use and mix colors. with this particular look by Jill Sander the idea is to stick to two or three colours, anymore than that and you might end up looking like a Rubik cube. Two’s fine but three makes for a more interesting and effective contrast.

Sheer, sheer, sheer.. Oh I can’t get enough of it. This trend is here to stay firmly! The sexy maxi just got even more mysterious. All maxi are going sheer for spring. If your daring enough wear sexy lingerie underneath or buy over sized pieces to match on top. This will be a look you will not want to miss out on this spring!

70’s Glamour. By day it’s all about clean yet voluminous silhouettes, and earthy ’70s colour palettes. Things to look for are High waisted wide-leg pants or flares, smartly belted in. Neat bow-blouses, especially ones with billowing or bishop sleeves. Particularly fabrics like silk and satin. If your a true fashionista work the jumpsuit!

Minimalism, This spring let the light in! all white basics with ease. This look can be harder to pull off. But pair it off with some comfy work boots. Great for an everyday look. Keep in mind that sheer is also still in and will cameo its way through the year!

The Bell bottom. Get ready girls! These pants are gonna squeeze you in and keep you in! AMEN! nothing like hearing our mothers stories of having there friends zip them up with wrenches or clothes hangers. The bell bottom is coming in strong and can be flattering on any body type. Don’t just throw out your pair of skinny jeans just yet, skinny’s are still in. Keep your options open by rocking these 70’s glamour jeans!

Tail hem, Tapered hem, cutaway hem… whatever you wish to label it, the basic fact remains: skirts and dresses cut longer at the back are continuing to make their way into our trend bibles, and thus features as a major 2011 fashion trend. These hems fill the void between mini and midi; or between midi and maxi. They cover, yet they expose. And they’re a simple way to freshen up your spring 2011 wardrobe with a new type of cut. This is my favorite :)

Stay tuned in for spring shoe , hair and make-up trends!!!
